Digesting History

Inspired by Anglo-Saxon feasting and storytelling traditions, Digesting History connected poets in their homes for a unique dining experience

The project

Inspired by Anglo-Saxon feasting and storytelling traditions, Digesting History connected poets in their homes for a unique dining experience, sharing recipes, riddles and brand-new work from Rachel Bower, Kayo Chingonyi and Joe Kriss. The discussions were accompanied by the premiere of new film "Where Two Rivers Meet" by award-winning film-maker, Eelyn Lee, celebrating Sheffield’s communities and the work of local food banks.

The brief

Digesting History's unique concept required the creation of a 'digital dining' experience, replicating the feeling and interactions of a traditional gathering to eat and share stories. Both discussion elements and pre-recorded film sharings needed support in one coherent online event.

The solution

We planned and delivered a pre-recorded premier event which included a selection of high-quality produced poetry films, and discussion between the poets and other speakers including host, Sheffield radio host Sile Sibanda. Accessibility was a priority with captioning provided throughout.
